Philosophy

Peninsula Midwives believes that being pregnant and giving birth are normal physiological events as well as transformative life experiences for all involved. A family has the right to give birth in a satisfying and meaningful way. My focus is on the normalcy of the process while maintaining the relevant skills to manage the variations of normal or potential complications. I utilize my clinical judgment to assess when a recommendation to transfer care may be appropriate.

Shared Decision Making

During your care, I emphasize lifestyle choices that promote body, mind and psychological well-being. I value the importance of mutual trust and respect, family-centered care and informed shared decision making. This emphasis on the importance of informed decision making is present in each aspect of your care. This means also that your active participation in this process is expected. I strive to provide quality information regarding risks and benefits for each choice to empower you in your decisions.
